Frozen Ghost - Frozen Ghost (Canadian Import CD / 1987)

The Summer of 1987 was filled with many wonderful tracks by new artists that were far off the Billboard Top 40 and Rock Radio / AOR charts. I recall a newer local radio station in Milwaukee (WLZR 102.9) coming on the air in the Winter of 1987. They began to rotate pop rock tracks from Frozen Ghost, The Other Ones, Rock and Hyde, The Psychedelic Furs, Billy Squier, Mason Rufner, The Robert Cray Band, Lou Gramm and others. It was quite a smorgasbord of new music for such a small market, but they were testing the airwaves and listeners.

I was hooked and with that went out and purchased this s/t debut on cassette. I'd purchase the CD later when it became more widely available. You have to remember that compact discs were just beginning to flood the market. They were not cheap and neither were the CD players. This CD has never been reissued which makes it a bit rare to find these days. Average price can be anywhere from $15 to $30+ on Bay / Amazon / Discogs.

I recently picked this up again after years of not having it. I have recorded it in flac and included all the scans. Here's a link for more info on the band and their discography. Thanks and enjoy!

    1. Yeah, had all three releases, but lost them somewhere along the way...or sold them. Glad to have this one back. Thanks for the comment.

    2. Do you have the 2nd release? If not, I could FLAC it (god, that sounds funny) and upload it for you. Thanks for all your post, by the way!

    3. That would be very kind. I only have a 320 rip with some terrible scans from years ago. I aim to fix that and eventually repurchase it. Thanks!

    4. Thanks for NPTV link! Getting it now. The second link you provided was without the decryption key.

  2. LOVE this band, thank you for sharing this in FLAC!! I remember first hearing the song "Round and Round" by them somewhere around 1988 and I was hooked! LOVE their 2nd album even better than their first, standout tracks like: Dream Come True, Pauper In Paradise, Echo a Miracle and the one I heard on the radio, which was Round and Round!

    1. Thanks Cory! I'm going to have to go back to the second release. I only have a 320 file of it at the moment, but did own it at one time. I never really gave it a full ears worth of listening. I got side tracked by Industrial and Acid House music!

I remember this band very well and they are truly hard to find!!! So, thank you very much for this great rip and the scans!!! Maybe we can see the other two some time soon?

    1. Thanks! I sold the other two awhile back. Those are far easier to come by, so may be in the future I'll post them after a repurchase. For right now, I just have 320 rips.

The other two in 320 (no scans), if you need them.

    1. Nice! I used up most of the Liquid club links previously. I'll re-check them again. BTW, I bought the gigantic DOA boom box set months ago...shipped with the ill fated 'wrong' discs, but recently upgraded to the 'right' disc from the manufacturer. How does something like this get so wrong? FML! lol!

I wasn't gonna spring for that much money for just a few non-album tracks ... lol ... but it really is a great collection (would have loved to see some early demos, since I love their first song Misty Circles).

Maybe you will be inclined to scan the booklet one day and post here?

    1. To me it was a no brainer, but that's me and my retro thoughts of nightclubbing in the past. The 'book' is massive and it would require some work to scan. Possibly?! ;)

      possibly?! So, you're saying there's a chance? I'll take that ... lol

I thought I had just about everything by them, but the exclusive tracks, especially on CDs 16 and 17 are GREAT!!!

    3. Other than trading the corrected CD's for the original 'problem CD's, I have only gone through this book once. I have it sealed up in a big plastic protector at the moment....

  8. Thanks so much for the incredible gift, RA! I've never owned the album in any configuration, and never even saw it in the cut-out bins back in the day (like so many other Atlantic releases)... Just tremendous!!

  9. I first heard of these guys because two of them were in Sheriff, which I had heard before they reissued When I'm With You and it became a smash.

Nothing like Sheriff, but I really got hooked on Should I See, among others.

If you want Nice Place or Spirit in flac, please respond to this message. Thanks for all your posts.

    1. Thanks! I'd love flac versions if the latter two if it isn't an issue. I'll keep the comment post to myself and won't publish it. Thanks for any help!

    2. Thank you for the links! I recently had received the NPTV in flac, but still was missing the SYS flac. This will be great. As for the Art Of Mix, I have many of the early ones in 320. I'd love to get the 2nd CD of that AOM 911 post from awhile back! Thanks again!
