Nitzer Ebb - Shame (Mix 2) (Ltd. Ed. UK 12 Inch / 1989)

01 Shame (Mix 2) 5:50
02 Captivate (Orbit Remix) 6:16

Just dropping one of the many releases I have been working on. A fine 12 inch from Nitzer Ebb on Mute records from 1989. All remixes are courtesy of William Orbit. I recorded this in 24 bit WAV, as I do most vinyl releases, so it's a large file. All the artwork is from the original twelve inch, which was elaborately re-worked in photoshop to bring out the secondary print graphics. Here's more information regarding the release. I think that you will find my artwork to be far more superior. Thanks again everyone! Enjoy!

  2. I love that you care as much about the cover artwork as you do about the sound!

This is one of Nitzer Ebb's finest releases for sure. I love their energy on these earlier releases.

    1. Thanks F.H.! I have to admit, I really appreciate having quality art with the recordings. I want the complete picture, not some low grade jpg from discogs, so I go out of my way to make it right. Working on some other artwork at the moment too (Shamen, March Violets...) Thanks again!

You have no idea how important the artwork is to me! Even as a kid, I always read the entire album first, all pages, every tiny detail ... lol ... I was always interested in who wrote the song and who produced it, etc.

I think that's why I still buy physical copies of my favorite albums today, even though I already downloaded them somewhere.

sidenote: Discogs drives me crazy! It's the ultimate site for a nerd like me, because I can read all the details and see who is connected to whom, but I will never understand why they compress the images at this day and age. I'm sure they could handle larger pictures. I have uploaded my own scans before, but they always compress them down to that size.

  4. Excellent. My favorite period of Nitzer Ebb. I'm looking for a clean copy of the limited edition 12" of Shame, containing a different remix that remains unavailable digitally. And also looking for anyone who can tell me if the 7" of Join in the Chant has an edit on the a-side, as the discographies I've seen list the a-side at a seemingly impossible 2m38s.

Yes, I used to have it. It was a GERMAN pressing of the single, with the full length dub/instrumental on the flipside. But good luck finding it.

Actually, I will look for it too ... lol

    3. haven't been able to find the single but, if I remember correctly, it just faded out after 2 and a half minutes, so it's probably just a simple fade out edit by the record company to accommodate radio play. However, I honestly don't remember if there was a real difference as I also had the 12" and preferred listening to the full length version.

    4. I'll keep an eye out for further developments. Good to know about the fade out on the "Join in the Chant" 7". Maybe they start later in the mix, too? It would be great to hear it. Thanks for the replies!

    5. Well now, I've made a mistake. I'm not looking for the limited edition remix of Shame, because that's exactly what is posted here (thanks again!). I'm actually looking for the limited edition remix of Hearts & Minds (Mix Subsonic). I have it on vinyl in decent condition, but I can't get rid of the electrical hum from my turntable, which mars any recordings I want to make. And other people who have posted mp3s have worked with very crackly vinyl. So yes, it hasn't seen an official digital release, and finding a clean digital file of it has been heartbreaking (it's frustrating what In Order picked and left out for the contents of an otherwise fairly comprehensive - if sometimes mislabeled - set). Mix Subsonic and the 7" of Join in the Chant are the two which remain stubbornly difficult to find as mp3s. Well, also some of the U.S. promo mixes of Fun To Be Had remixed by the Dust Brothers... but there's far too many mixes of that one to be concerned about. The George Clinton mixes of Fun To Be Had were all very similar. But hey, who's thinking about promos? I'm still working on the standard stuff!

    8. lol...thanks! As I said, working on it. Usually me tweaking the art is the thing that takes the longest...it's already recorded! :)
