The The - Shades Of Blue (Japanese Import CD EP / 1991)

01 Jealous Of Youth 4:15
02 Another Boy Drowning (Live) 6:09
03 Solitude 2:42
04 Dolphins 3:38

I've been a massive The The / Matt Johnson fan since 1983. It's only appropriate I add some  onto the SSTM page. This is the rare Japanese CD EP pressing from 1991. I'm going to try something a bit different for this post. Along with the 320 version, I will give you the oppurtunity to have a WAV version as well. This is for those of you who prefer the lossless format. My plans are to try and do this with (most) of my upcoming posts. It might be a bit difficult with the vinyl recordings I do. Working that out. I also have issues when it comes to file share sites, as I don't have accounts that allow me to post anything larger than 200MB. Working on that too. If any of my fellow bloggers have some inside info for me regarding any of this, feel free to comment! As always, thanks for checking the page and Enjoy!

  1. Nice one, thank you. I adore this EP, and have likewise been a *massive* Matt Johnson fan (for me, since Infected). This one is one of the rare releases I only have on CD, have yet to stumble across one on vinyl. One day....
Cheers, and thanks again for your continued work on this awesome blog!

    2. The zippyshare links are requiring a password. Just figuring this out now as I was trying to open them up. Do you have the pass? Thanks!

  4. WOW! As a The The fan going way back, I can't believe I've never heard of this, so thank you! Also, the higher quality files are appreciated too, but whatever you do, in whatever format and quality, it's very much appreciated. Thanks again and please keep those surprises coming!

  5. One suggestion - why do use FLAC as lossless format? It will reduce the format of the files without loosing quality. Do you use a Windows or Mac computer? If you use a Mac, I strongly recommend using the free software XLD (http://tmkk.undo.jp/xld/index_e.html).
Anyway, thanks for your kindness of sharing such wonderful and almost lost great records - I really appreciate the time you use on doing this.

  6. Thanks! You're welcome. As far as recording goes, I use Windows. When it comes to the FLAC/lossless debacle that surrounds everyone who is an audiophile, I'm just learning. I'd prefer to just run 320 and say the hell with FLAC/loseless anyway. It saves me the headache of it all and I'll be saving space. Most people are just generally happy to have a free file download that's clean and at least 320. I understand where you are coming from and I appreciate the insight! Thanks again!!

  7. Still sort of "discovering" The The so thank you for this.

As for the FLAC/320 I weigh in on ease of use. I prefer the physical medium, but I can't play my LPs in the van.

    1. Ease of use for certain...lol! The FLAC/320 still rages on and actually FLAC isn't right until you get tyhe lowdown from a true sound master...ugh!
