V/A - Art Of Mix 911 (CD / 1993)

I was in the process of looking for some lost 'Art Of Mix' CD's when I ran across this compilation. It was out of place with the others and I nearly forgot that I had it. After some further Discogs research, I see that it is an 'Art Of Mix' compilation. Yeah for me, lucky for you. Unfortunately, I do not have the CD 2 of this set for some reason. Damn for me. As for my overall review of the 'AOM' series...ah, I don't know. I didn't use the remixes when I was djing. I found them a bit repetitive. I was always partial to anything 'Razormaid'. I, like you, am going to go back in and revisit these...just to be sure. (Insert winking smiley face).

Thank you for starting the Art Of Mix series!!! I agree with you that Razormaid is by far the best remix service (and Rampage for being a little bit more selective in their choices) but one just can't have enough 80s Remixes ... lol ... It's always nice to hear a slightly new twist on a classic that you listened to over 1000 times!

    Thank you so much!!!

Been listening to this comp and I must say it is phenomenal! I agree that the mixes could have been about 2 minutes shorter but at least most of them vary quite a bit from the originals, which makes them so enjoyable!

      Thank you!

I hope you upload more of these, especially if they are the "Art Of Compilation CDs" instead of the 4 track vinyls!

Yeah, I see your point. That link is almost complete (except volume 10 for some reason). But I noticed that some of the volumes are in fairly low quality , so it's your call !~

If you have better remix services (like Rampage or Roadkill maybe), ...

    ;-D

    1. I noticed that when I was trying to d/l a few, which I didn't d/l because I actually have them. LMK if you'd like a 320 of any and I will link you in the comments. I still need to grab V.10. Thanks for the link! As for Rampage & Roadkill....yeah, a bit blank on those. I do have 1/2 of a Rampage release, only because it has a 14 minute NIN mix. I have a ton of Razormaid! though! :)

1-4, 9, 11, 12 would be awesome since they are in lower quality here.

I remember that NIN remix. I had that issue on vinyl and it was definitely awesome! I also had volumes 1 and 7, 8. Rampage 7 was especially good because it had Front 242 and a megamix with Planet Soul and Josh Wink that was actually really nice!

    Anyays ... lol

    Razormaid rules!!!

I have the following Razormaid collections if you need any of them:

    VA - Razormaid - Anniversary 9.0 (10CD 1993)
VA - Razormaid! - From The Vault - The Dub Mixes
VA - Razormaid! 7th Anniversary Box Set (1992)

    1. I can do the AOM 1, 3 & 4. Message me on the Sidestepping facebook site. We can work from there within regards to exchanging fileshares without too much public input. Not that I wouldn't like all the readers to benefit, but...hey. Those Razormaids would be very cool. Nice set (10 CD Box). I'll have to look at my collection. I have about 8 authentic CD's and a ton of others that I recorded from the various vinyl I still have. It's always a crap shoot posting Razormaid! on blogs. It usually gets a DMCA takedown. Talk soon...

Steve Smith was great, when he was around and worked for the Art of mix series. J. Pillin kept the company name, and used to write or talk to someone in a Dallas record store trying and trying to get them to order or stock the CDs and Ultra Hot Razor, but as a fact they were extremely dull and repetitive and this made for awful compilations.
Rumor was that Smith was with the company and he passed away years back.
