Men Without Hats - Living In China (UK 12 Inch / 1983)

01) Living In China 3:02
02) Modern Dancing 4:10
03) Cocoricci (Le Tango des Voleurs) 3:20

One of the earlier Statik records releases out of England in 1983. I'm not sure why I decided to pull this 12 inch out of my collection for digital transfer. I am sure I was looking for something else in the 'M' file. Nonetheless, I still enjoy the early MWOH releases. I did see them perform back in 1987, but unfortunately missed the U.S. Winter 2012 tour w/ Bow Wow Wow!

The The - Slow Train To Dawn (US 12 Inch / 1986)

01) Slow Train To Dawn (Extended Re-Mix) 6:31
02) Harbour Lights 3:38
03) Heartland (LP Version) 5:04
04) Born In The New S.A. 2:00

A classic slice of Matt Johnson and his infamous 'The The' I have a vast collection of releases from the band, so I will begin to try and post more in the upcoming days/weeks/year. Can't say enough about this release. All the recordings were taken from a blogger who has since vanished. I took his well recorded tracks and tweaked them ever so slightly. All the art is from my 12 inch. These were actually photos (prior to me getting the new scanner), then reworked in photoshop. All 320 recordings too. Thanks! Enjoy!

Tones On Tail - Christian Says (UK 12 Inch / 1984)

01) Christian Says 3:41
02) Twist 5:10

This is the original 12 inch that I purchased back in 1985. This also was one of the first tracks I had heard from Tones On Tail, at that time. Needless to say, the track 'Go' would become a huge undergound club hit and lead me into buying and enjoying everything Tones On Tail.  All the art included here is my own original work and not from the discogs site. Enjoy!

V/A (Soundtrack) - Electric Dreams (CD/1984)

Up until yesterday, I only had this on LP. I recently found this in the discounted CD racks of my local Goodwill (U.S. Thrift Store) for the mere price of 1$! I'm a bit hazy on recounting the movie, but the soundtrack is pure 80's classic. Culture Club, Heaven 17, Helen Terry, Jeff Lynne (ELO), Philip Oakey (Human League) and....yes...Giorgio Moroder! Enjoy my friends!

Secession - Promise (UK 12 Inch / 1987)

01) Promise (Dance Mix) 5:13
02) Promise (Dub Mix) 5:18
03) Havoc 3:47

Adding to the Secession collective. This was a wildly popular track back in 1987. Oddly enough it's probably one of the only tracks most people can recall if they even remember the group Secession. DJ's we're all over it, as it was easily mixable and less known by the masses...plus it was just that good!

Give Me This Night To Prove I'm Right: Promise (Re-Up 5/8/14)

MOEV - Crucify Me (US 12 Inch / 1989)

01) Crucify Me (GM Edit Extended) 5:43
02) Crucify Me (Radio Mix) 4:17
03) Crucify Me (Extended Mix) 5:27

Whenever I think of MOEV, this is the track that normally comes to mind. I rotated this quite regularly into my DJ sets of the past. A Nettwerk (Canada) label classic! This is the US Atlantic pressing. Originally, this 12 inch was posted on the blog  New Romantic Rules. What I've done here is added all the art from the original 12 inch and then cleaned up the vinyl recordings a bit (Re-Eq'ed, Amplified and ran it through a noise/click application.

Secession - The Magician (UK 12 Inch / 1987)

01) The Magician (Pecky Plus Mix) 6:56
02) Magic Drums 3:20
03) The Magician (Pecky Dub Mix) 5:29
04) The Killing Season: 4:21

I found this 12 inch and all the other Secession 12 inches for $1 a piece, in a now defunct record store that used to be on Brady St. in Milwaukee. It was the late 90's. At the time, I had no clue what to expect from these 12ers, but for a dollar, you couldn't go wrong! So true was that! The records turned out to be rare and desired by many 80's Retro DJ's. I sold them for 10X what I paid.

This particular 12 inch worked well when mixing into or out of New Order's 'Bizarre Love Triangle' or 'True Faith'...you call it. The two recordings are very similar in sound, BPM and year release. No doubt that if you liked New Order, you'll like this one as well!!

Give it up now baby, C'mon c'mon darling....you'll never understand the joy it gave me:  Magic
